Information and Materials for Delegates

The Small Group Discussion Results

At the Convention, there was an opporunity for the delegates to engage in small group discussion.

Delegates to the convention are encouraged to share the resources below for sharing of information with our congregations so that the work we do together can be discussed.

Here are the reports from that session:

At the Convention:
As has been posted here on this website, and in previous Convention Bulletins, we will be having time for small group discussions to provide feedback to the Central District Board of Directors for future planning.
Lay Delegates, Pastors, and Deacons will be involved in these discussions at the convention. Please be sure to distribute the questions to the members of your congregation so that they can provide the delegates from your congregation with information they can share at the convention. A simple email with the link will enable them to receive it.
These questions were provided on page I.8 of Convention Bulletin 3, and also are included in the document "Small Group Discussion Questions and Supplemental Information for Central District Convention 2012" which will be discussed at the convention. Click on the link to download a copy of it. Ensure that people in your congregation can look at it and offer their input by emailing responses to the delegates from your congregation. Have the delegates bring the compiled responses to the convention, where small group discussion will occur based on the above document.

Information about the purpose, location, theme/guest speaker, delegates, costs, workbooks, etc, is included in the Convention Bulletin #1.

Here's Convention Bulletin #2-new information and updates.

    Guest Speaker Update
Rev. Dr. Gemechis Buba has had to decline the invitation to be our guest speaker. The Mekane Yesus Church (Ethiopian Lutheran Church) hosts a Mission Convention and Theological Conference every year for African pastors and church leaders (around 25,000 have attended in the past). Dr. Buba is the organizer, planner and host of the conference. Unfortunately, the only dates that worked were April 20-27, the same time as our convention.

Our new speaker will be Rev. Jonathan Fisk, one of the pastors at Bethany Lutheran Church and School, Naperville, IL (near Chicago). For more information about Pastor Fisk, and to view his VLOG (Video Blog), go to his website.
